“The Suburban Crime Prevention Program provides funds to suburban businesses and not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs for projects or services that will help deter crime and improve community safety in their local suburb and community.
Brisbane City Council recognises that this suburban crime prevention program will benefit all Brisbane residents and visitors, in particular by:
- implementing safety measures that will reduce opportunities for crime and improve the perception of safety in their suburb and surrounds
- improving safety through the application of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles
- educating local residents on personal safety and property security
- providing improved public spaces in business precincts for people to enjoy
- implementing effective graffiti prevention, removal and management strategies
- partnering with other stakeholders to resolve safety concerns in their community
Funding round dates
Applications for this grant are now open. Submissions will close on Monday 7 September 2015.
Funding
Funding amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000.
Applicants are required to provide 20% of the project costs with Council providing the remaining 80%, up to a maximum of $10,000.
Eligibility
Applicants can be a:
- registered small business
- consortium of small businesses
- Chamber of Commerce
- small business Body Corporate
- not-for-profit community group
- sporting club
provided that the primary purpose of the grant application is to benefit community safety in the public realm. The project cannot be used for profit making purposes.
Applicants must not have any outstanding acquittals for any previous grants with Council.

The online application system allows you to save, develop and print out applications before you submit them.
Successful applicants must abide by the full terms and conditions of the grant. Terms and conditions are outlined in your Funding Agreement.
Acquittal reports for successful applicants
If your application is successful, you will be required to complete an online acquittal form within 12 months of grant approval notification.
Grant recipients with overdue acquittal reports are not eligible to apply for grants.
Acquittals must be submitted online. If your application is successful, you will receive an email to advise you how to access the online acquittal form.
If you believe your business or community group may have an outstanding report from a previous grant funded project, contact Council and ask to speak with the Grants Unit for advice.
